The objective of the Family Class of immigration is to reunite close family members in Canada.Canadian citizens or Permanent residents who are 18 years and older can sponsor thier Parents and Grandparents to live with them as permanent residents .
The Sposnor Must :
- Prove that he can meet financial requirements needs—such as food, clothing and shelter—for his family, and support them financially;
- Meet minimum necessary income threshold, depending on the number number of family members being supported in Canada and being sponsored;
- Sign a sponsorship agreement that commits him/her to provide financial support for Parents and Grandparents if necessary
Parents and Grandparents sponsored through the Family Class of immigration receive Canadian permanent residence. This includes the right to study and work in Canada. In 4 years of residence they can apply for Canadian citizenship.
